Ven. Bardor Tulku Rinpoche is the founder and spiritual director of Kunzang Palchen Ling (www.kunzang.org), a Dharma Center in Red Hook, N.Y. Born in Kham, East Tibet, Rinpoche was recognized as an early age by His Holiness the 16th Gyalwang Karmapa as the third incarnation of Terchen Barway Dorje. Rinpoche was enthroned as a tulku at Rumtek Monastery in his teens and trained there under the tutelage of His Holiness. After completing many years of study and practice, Rinpoche accompanied the 16th Karmapa on his world tours in 1974 and 1976. In 1977, His Holiness asked Rinpoche to remain in Woodstock, New York, and in 1980, directed that his monastery and North American seat be established there, where Rinpoche served until 2008.
The 19th century Tibetan master Terchen Barway Dorje was an emanation of two of Guru Rinpoche’s principal disciples—Nupchen Sangye Yeshe and Yeshe Tsogyal. The writings of Terchen Barway Dorje consist of fourteen volumes. Of these, nine volumes are his treasure revelations, three volumes are his collective writings, one volume is his autobiography, and one volume includes his songs of instruction.
